(Lacking half-title, list of contents [pp. 7-12], and A8, marginal chipping and short closed tears to the first few leaves including title, 2L7 and 2L8 with some loss to text near gutter). Contemporary straight-grain morocco (rebacked, preserving front pastedown and rear endpapers). Provenance: Ephraim Anderson, Moroni, Utah (ownership inscription on rear endpapers, initials on fore-edge of text block); Minnie B. Anderson (ownership signature on rear pastedown, dated 1909).
FIRST EDITION WITH A SALT LAKE CITY IMPRINT, from the English stereotyped plates of 1852, with the replated twenty-five pages made for the reissue of the 1866 Liverpool edition. This was the first Book of Mormon to be printed in the established headquarters of the Mormon Church, and the first to be printed by the Church of Latter-day Saints in America since the 1842 Nauvoo edition.
