Pynchon, Thomas (b. 1937). Gravity's Rainbow. New York: The Viking Press, [1973].
8vo. Original orange cloth, top edge stained orange; dust jacket; folding case
FIRST EDITION, in FIRST ISSUE DUST JACKET with publisher's date code of "0273" on lower front flap, and ISBN printed in white on rear cover. Gravity's Rainbow won the National Book Award in 1974. Pynchon famously refused to acknowledge the award and sent comedian "Professor" Irwin Corey in his stead; adding to the surrealism of the moment, a streaker ran across the stage during Corey's acceptance speech.
