[Harvey, William Henry ("Aleph") (1796-1866)]. Geographical Fun, being Humourous Outlines of Various Countries. London: Hodder and Stoughton, n.d. [1869].
4to. 12 chromolithographic maps by Vincent Brooks, Day & Sons after Harvey. Original pictorial printed boards (old rebacking, new front endpaper, rear fore-corner renewed, extremities worn, upper cover partially detached).
Second edition (advertisements dated 1869), first issued in 1868. The introduction attributes the series of whimsical caricature maps to a “young lady … in her fifteenth year,” purportedly created to amuse and entertain her sick brother; in reality, the work is by William Harvey, the accomplished wood-engraver, illustrator, and occasional writer of verse for children. IN THE RARE ORIGINAL PICTORIAL BOARDS.
[With:] a suite of 4 satirical maps, ca 1910.
