[Economics]. Keynes, John Maynard (1883-1946). A Revision of the Treaty. Being a Sequel to the Economic Consequences of the Peace. London: Macmillan and Co., 1922.
8vo. (Occasional marginal spotting.) Original blue cloth, gilt-lettered spine; dust jacket (minor rubbing, slight darkening to spine, very minor losses to spine ends).
FIRST EDITION. Revision to the Treaty was written to express Keynes's own misgivings about the potential economic ramifications of the Treaty of Versailles, which Keynes believed would create economic instability in Germany and thus lay the groundwork for another major conflict with Germany. His work ultimately turned out to be prophetic, as it was these very issues that allowed the Nazi Party to gain power in 1933. IN THE RARE DUST JACKET.
