[Chicago Fire]. A group of artifacts salvaged from the wreckage of the Great Chicago Fire, comprising:
1) Large piece of slag metal mounted on brass display stand with glass base, with label which reads, "Relic of Chicago fire presented to B.M. Lyons." Height, 13 1/2 in.
2) Jelly glass jar retaining original lid deformed by fire with label pasted to side which reads, "Jelly glass from Chicago fire, Mrs. Emma Rullow, Bloomington, Ill." 2 1/4 x 3 in.
3) Tin cup displaying scorch marks accompanied by label which reads, "Cup was in Chicago fire 1871." 2 1/4 x 3 in.
4) Blue ceramic handless cup with label at bottom which reads, "Found in Chicago Fire by Grandad, October 9 1871."
5) Single-handled ceramic costrel displaying severe fire damage. 4 x 4 in.
6) Ceramic miniature bowl with cover displaying severe fire damage. 3 x 3 1/2 in.
7) Ceramic dog figurine displaying scorch marks. Height, 4 1/2 in.
8) Ceramic floral vase displaying severe scorch marks with additional notations in pen, "Chicago Fire October 9 1871" and "Aunt Laurie / Chicago Fire / 1871 - Oct 9."
9) A framed display of 5 iron toys accompanied by a typewritten note, "Small iron toys - found in the ashes after the great Chicago Fire of October 1871. Given to Annetta Wise, eight years old, by other children. Her father and mother were helping to take care of the fire victims." 8 x 10 in.
10) A shadow box display containing approximately 20 items salvaged from or relating to the Great Chicago Fire, including pieces of glass, railroad spikes, a spoon, pieces of molten metal, and a wooden knife with the penciled words, "G.B. Selden. Made waiting for first train out after fire." 21 x 14 in.
11) A framed display of 10 scorched railroad tickets accompanied by a note which reads, "Railroad tickets burned in Great Chicago Fire and dug up by Wohlmen at Old Illinois Central Station at Foot of Randolph St. May 28, 1894."
12) A pair of stereoviews depicting a house constructed of relics salvaged from the Great Chicago Fire and a melted portion of the Court House Bell. Each, 7 x 3 1/2 in.
