Note:

Charlotte Corday (1768-1793) sympathized with the Girondins during the French Revolution, and she assassinated the Jacobin leader, Jean-Paul Marat (1743-1793), in Paris, while he was in his bath. This needlework is likely based on an unidentified engraving from the period.
