A Fine Pieced and Applique Printed Cotton Quilt
Signed, "Sarah Lamb" (1822-1907), and Dated, "April 28th, 1845," Fairfield County, Ohio
with embroidered signature and date, patches arranged in a Carolina Lily pattern variant within a flowering vine border, heightened by square and diagonal line quilting; the quilt is accompanied by a hand-written note from 1842, inscribed, "Sarah Lamb set to work the 13th of May for Mrs. Ruffen at Seventy-five cents per week (Left of August the 20th) Set in to work September the 20th.", several letters to and from Sarah Lamb, and a small black and white photograph of the Lamb-Wikoff family also accompany lot.

By descent in the family of Sarah Lamb's daughter, Catherine Geiger Wikoff (1859-1936), to the present consignor.
Sarah Lamb was born to Hetty Catherine Cupp and William Lamb in Walnut Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. She married Herbert Geiger (1810-1892) in 1847.
