stable and sturdy; the surface bears wonderful evidence of age, showing varnish crackling and and patination indicative of true age and honest use, including some rubbing and wear to armrests and seat; showing evidence of a few campaigns of paint over the course of the chair's history, with a couple colors evident and a nice surface build-up in some areas; a couple mends to backrest rail, and to one stretcher near center joint; the feet with some wear and general loss to underside from use over time; seat height is 15 1/4 inches at highest point.
