Sold by order of the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit acquisitions.
The case ( measures 24 x 56 inches and )with left side leaf (measures 34 1/2 x 85 1/2 inches) ) moves on wheels. The top screwed to case, and exhibits scattered discolorations, wear, scuffs and minor losses. The lip-molded edges of drawers with wear; two lower drawers without top molded edge. Top drawer and door fitted with lock. The leaf at back of main case ( measures 10 1/2 x 56 inches) is supported by two 'lopers.' Back of case unfinished.
The large extension leaf to left of case has hinges, later blocking and cleats, and shows evidence of other hinges and enlargements to leaf top. Top of leaf now has a rigid support arm( measures 34 1/2 x 29 1/4 inches) which also shows evidence of alterations. A turned post accompanies table with nail at one end probable earlier support for left side extension. Refinished.
