Note:
William D. Lelar (1837-1924), born in Philadelphia, served with the 90th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War and lost his leg in the Battle of Fredericksburg. Despite his injuries, he went on to work in the civic sphere as both a telegraph operator and Magistrate for the city of Philadelphia. He also was a successful real estate agent in the Southwark neighborhood.
