Note:
Noah Brooks was a celebrated journalist and newspaper editor who famously covered the Lincoln Administration starting in 1862 and authored the biography of Abraham Lincoln titled, Abraham Lincoln: A Biography for Young People (1888). Brooks developed a close bond with Lincoln, and this tray was purportedly a gift to Brooks.
This lot is accompanied by a typed letter, dated February 28, 1979, and a newspaper article clipping citing the chain of ownership.
