Lot Note:
The present lot was created within the tradition of dozijnschilderen, where modestly talented artists were employed by art dealers to create large numbers of inexpensive, quickly executed, cabinet-size paintings that feature popular subjects, often taken from the Bible. We wish to thank the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie, also known as R.K.D., for their kind assistance in cataloguing the present painting.
