The present Lot will be on view at Freeman's Upper East Side galleries located at 32 E. 67th St in New York, May 6-11, 10am-5pm weekdays; 11am-5pm Saturday, May 9; closed Sunday, May 10.
Framed: 47 1/2 x 37 x 4 in.
Minor deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is lined; passages of the surface have been pressed due to the lining process; visible inpainting extends horizontally through the child's chest and left shoulder, and into the background, accompanied by craquelures and a few areas of tenting paint; inpainting visible under raking light that extends along the lower edge, as well as additional small areas of inpainting in scattered areas. Under UV light: the visible inpainting through the child's chest fluoresces, as well as a line of vertical inpainting that extends to the left of its face and into its upraised hand, evidencing a complicated, repaired tear, overall approximately 9 x 12 inches in area; the aforementioned line of inpainting along the lower edge and scattered small spots of inpainting in the background fluoresce; several areas of inpainting in the parrot and flowers in the upper right corner; a small dot of inpainting above the child's left eyebrow.
