The Doge of Venice Attends the Shrove Thursday Festivities on the Piazzetta
Framed: 30 x 39 x 2 1/2 in.
The canvas is re-lined; craquelure to the surface has been stabilized at some point in the past. Minor abrasions to the canvas edges, probably from a past frame, typical of age. There are two losses to the paint at lower right, each approx. 1”, with associated abrasions to the varnish. Under UV light: the old varnish fluoresces, there are a few strokes of inpainting to the sky at mid-right.

The relined work is in generally fair condition. Craquelure present throughout the work with minor associated losses. Two horizontal scuff marks present across top center measuring approx. ten inches each. Surface soiling present throughout the work. No apparent issues under UV.
