Acquired from the above sale by the present owner
Framed: 26 1/2 x 24 x 3 1/2 in. (each)
Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; the painting with anemone and yellow daffodil is not lined and the lower stretcher is slightly bowed, while its companion is wax-lined and on non-original stretchers; each painting has a network of hairline craquelures throughout; spots of inpainting along edges of each artwork visible under close examination; both under a highly reflective varnish layer. Under UV light: the unlined painting has small spots and strokes of inpainting scattered throughout the surface, but none indicating any repaired tears or holes; the varnish on the lined painting has been selectively cleaned around the blossoms, with small spots and lines of inpainting within the petals and in some areas around the stems and leaves.
