The Collected Library, Including Americana and Early Photography

Lot comprised of the following items identified to the 124th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, including:

White and blue silk reunion banner trimmed with gold bullion fringe, featuring the following text: "124th In. Vol. Inf'ty. 23rd Army Corps." 33 1/2 x 20 1/2 in. (excluding fringe at bottom of banner). Framed under glass for display, 45 x 34 in. overall. (Banner not examined out of frame, with some visible staining near left edge, areas of separation to silk throughout, occasional cracking to lettering.) Accompanied by two tassels, which may have been original to the banner.

Also included is a photograph documenting a reunion of Civil War veterans who served with the 124th Indiana Infantry, 23rd Army Corps, approx. 8 x 13 3/4 in. (sight), framed for display, 10 x 15 1/4 in. overall. Verso with period inscription, which reads in part, "Property of GAR Memorial Hall and Civil War Museum...Centerville, Ind....Reunion of the 124th Ind. Infy. 23rd Army Corps - American Civil War 1864-5. Union Veterans, the 124th activated at Camp Wayne, Richmond, Ind." Additional details regarding the regiment written below. Note that one of the men standing in the back row of the photograph appears to be holding the reunion banner offered here.
