Poindexter, declining an invitation, and discussing pieces of his autobiography published in The Outlook. With original mailing envelope. Creasing from old folds, section of verso toned affecting signature.
The Outlook was a weekly New York City magazine published from 1870-1935. Beginning in 1900, Washington contributed parts of his autobiography serially for publication. These segments in the following year would be published separately in book form, as his most famous work, Up From Slavery
