7x57mm. 26.5" barrel length. SN: 6855. Blued finish with casehardened receiver and small parts mounting a horn triggerguard and walnut semi-pistol grip half-stock with quick-adjustable comb and vintage recoil pad. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle with octagonal to round barrel mounting fixed rear notch and front blade sights, and a vintage LEUPOLD 3-9X scope on Redfield two-piece base. Engraved barrel address reads L. SCHIWY. BERLIN S.W. 68, with BOHLER STAHL marking to left barrel and {Crown/B} and {Crown/U} commercial proofs to receiver. Iron sights are mounted on a full length matted barrel rib, with a front ramp leading to the German Silver bead. Rifle features a Greener style safety to left wrist, double set triggers, and front and rear sling loops secured to the lower barrel and the toe of the stock. Further fitted with a turned down spoon bolt featuring bordered checkering, and jeweling to the extractor. Stock features a spring loaded adjustable comb with knurled safety catch allowing it to be retained in two positions. Fully extended for alignment with the scope, or fully compressed for alignment with the iron sights. This comb features a contoured cheek pad to the left hand side. Bordered multipoint checkering to the wrist with the engraved semi-pistol grip cap displaying the initials EM for a former owner. Rifle is embellished with spiral scroll engraving and light borders to the receiver and metal components including stock fittings. Retains the forward mount for a two-piece German Claw mount, with the rear component having been removed to make way for the Redfield base. Forend features folding hand stops on each side.

The barrel of this lot bears the maker marking of Ludwig Schiwy of Berlin, a gunsmith famed for producing high quality double rifles and Mauser action rifles, particularly for German hunters of the first half of the Twentieth Century. Most famously, he produced a handful of Mauser hunting rifles for Reichsmarschall Hermann Goering, who was himself an avid hunter. As for this lot, no documentation has been presented to indicate who its previous owner might have been, but with a point of balance just at the forward edge of the action, it feels light and lively despite its nine pound weight with the optic.
