Maison Carlhian was a Paris-based decorating firm which operated for over one hundred years beginning in 1867. The firm specialized in eighteenth century interiors and served a distinguished clientele which included King Edward VII. At the start of the twentieth century, the firm became involved in architectural salvage and maintained a collection of antique samples which were used for "reproduction purposes." [1] The present lot is probably one of these antique references given the age and stamps to the seat rails.

Seat height 17 inches.
Both appearing in overall good, stable, and ready to place condition. Sturdy and can be sat upon comfortably. Cushions are well-filled. Upholstery is clean and intact with some variation in color, possibly sun fading, only visible upon close inspection. One with a small black spot on the seat cushion. Minor flaking to paint and gilding. Additional images available upon request.
