Sale 6464
Estimate$1,000 – $2,000
The marble later as indicated in the cataloging; with some shallow surface scratches and scattered minor 'nibbling' to edges as expected with use. No apparent maker's stamps/JME; the sabots impressed 'JR' and the angle mounts stamped '666' or '999'. Mounts appear to be sandcast, but with no evidence of mercury gilding; probably re-gilt as there are no other mounting holes and shadows are consistent. The sabots lacking their top pins. The oak carcass with scattered age splits, construction gaps and old repairs as expected with age. The veneer with even sunfading and areas of infill, replacements and old touch-ups, now discolored. Stable, presents well.
Height 1 3/4 x width 51 1/2 x depth 21 inches, the marble.
