Estimate$4,000 – $7,000
Provenance:
Sanchez-Ruschmeyer Interior Design, San Francisco, CA, June 10, 1993 (copy of invoice)
Note from Tim Corfield, antiques advisor to Betty and Gordon Moore at Mountain Meadow:
"A good partners desk from the early 19th century but what is good about it is the overall quality. The timber is great particularly on the ends where it is panelled and cross banded, and the drawers which run smoothly on high quality linings retain their original cast and gilt Chippendale style handles. The whole piece is cross-banded in rosewood and strung in boxwood. The leather top now nicely faded, patinated and a little worn, and I think would wax up well for those who like that sort of thing!"
