The desk is sturdy and is in fine condition overall. There are repairs throughout. The lacquer panels are carved in low relief; there are areas of craquelure throughout and associated lifting in select areas. The proper left front leg has been repaired and there is associated glue residue to the gilding. There are chips, losses, and abrasions throughout the giltwood and case. The lock is missing from the cabinet door on the proper right side. A key accompanies the piece, but it does not seem to be the correct key: it does not turn in the lock. The leather inset top exhibits patination and discoloration consistent with wear and age, but it is not fragile or dry. Please see the condition images for more information.
