lined on a new stretcher; with some cracquelure commensurate with age; UV light reveals some scattered areas of retouching, including to upper right edge of head, a couple areas to center of dress, along edge of mallet, a large messy area to the left of child- to sky and treeline, to lower edge and corners, upper right corner, and few minute specks to right-facing side edge; UV light also reveals some streaky and drippy green fluorescence, likely indicating an applied varnish; frame is period, and has some expected losses to gesso and gilding commensurate with age
