stable and sturdy, each exhibiting some typical moderate wear commensurate with age and use, including some scuffing to legs and feet; a side chair and an armchair with slightly loose joint at crest / stile; side chair 1: with old loss along upper side of center spindle, each leg with repaired split or break at frame attachment, with area of fill evident to right-facing stile bottom; side chair 2: with tenon evident to back left-facing leg at frame, likely indicating a reinforcement, front legs with repaired split or break at frame joint, back two legs with two screw holes each to inside edge, and back left-facing leg with a small chip along upper edge, one front leg with old loss along surface; armchair 1: with losses to both veneered pieces at upper stiles just above armrest joint, both arms have been reattached to crestrail and to armrest supports- with some subtle nail holes and plugged holes evident, repaired break or split to front right-facing leg at upper stile- the side of seat rail with repaired break to inside, back left-facing leg with surface split along backside, upper part of left-facing arm with surface abrasion; armchair 2: evidence that arms have been reattached to crestrail, with plugged holes visible to rear of crestrail, the right-facing arm with repaired break at upper part, repaired break to right-facing armrest support just below reeding, left-most spindle with old small loss to edge, three legs with secured splits or breaks along edge of upper stile
