probably refinished, but exhibiting nice rich color to mahogany; the top surface finish with a faint cloudiness indicative of wiping or polishing; top is two board, with a small wood board at roughly 2 inches at back edge; the bottom board to top drawer is coming loose- the nail reinforcements missing; both small side drawers with replaced runners, the back corners of drawer runners on right-facing drawer also with spliced wood segments; the bottom of shell carved drawer incised with numerical code; apron and knees are wonderfully carved, and the feet appear ok, with some minor occasional scuffing or scraping commensurate with age; the carved drops and returns (right above knee returns on legs) to either side aprons are separately pieced segments; a couple minor patches to drawer face corners; brasses are replaced; front left-facing side of top with small abrasion
