First edition, hand-colored issue. Duppa describes at length the taxonomic system first developed by Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus. "This work is intended to be a complete illustration of the Linnaean system of Botany...This work was originally begun as an amusement, and it has gradually expanded in size" (Introduction). Includes a dictionary of botanical terms and a general index. The book was issued both colored and uncolored.
