Coin jewelry is almost synonymous with Bvlgari. Called ‘Monete’, it usually features ancient Greek and Roman coins referencing the firm’s Greek and Italian roots. To celebrate the opening of the New York Bulgari boutique in 1972, Nicolai Bulgari, a third-generation coin collector, created necklaces using historically significant American coins. Six necklaces were made using the first American $5.00 gold coin featuring lady liberty donning a turban.
