Estimate$700 – $900
The piece presents well and has a lovely patina throughout. It is sturdy, the feet are level on the ground, and the drawers are easy to pull.
As visible in the images, the gessoed surface has various nicks, chips, and losses throughout, and there are typical age-related cracks to the wood; these are stable.
There are later restorations in select areas, notably the screws securing the back panels of the chest have been replaced, the support rails for the secretary desk appear to have been replaced, and the painted surface has evidence of inpainting from various points in time over the years. The lobes flanking the bonnet appear to have been repaired at some point in the past.
The screw securing the pull for the proper left support rail for the secretary desk is stripped. The lock for the secretary desk was forced at some point in the past, damaging the wood. The case is lacking two pulls from the proper right sides of the two lower drawers. There appears to be a finial missing from the top. Please review the attached images for more information.
