Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is lined; networks of craquelures throughout; what appears to be a repaired t-shaped tear extends along the left edge, accompanied by inpainting visible under normal viewing conditions; one small paint loss in the lower left corner; small spots of inpainting scattered throughout the sky, also visible under normal viewing conditions; under a highly reflective varnish. Under UV light: the thick varnish layer prohibits viewing of older inpainting; small spots of inpainting within the sky; inpainting along the possible repaired tear on the left side; inpainting to the body of the black horse on the right; one small spot of inpainting to the brown horse in the center; additional small to medium sized areas of inpainting scattered throughout the foreground.
