Significant deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is not lined and loose on the stretcher; stretcher bar lines around the image perimeter; network of craquelures throughout; two pinpoint paint losses in the lower left corner; pinpoint white paint droplets scattered through the lower half of the painting; one patch each on the upper left, upper center; lower left, and lower right corners on the reverse; the patches have caused moderate distortion to the recto; under a thick, reflective varnish. Under UV light: inpainting within the areas of the patches; inpainting scattered throughout the lower left corner; small dots of inpainting to the bodice and right sleeve of the girl; additional small areas of inpainting in the background.
