Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas does not appear to be lined, but difficult to determine without removal from the frame, which is not recommended; an approximately 2 x 2 inch patch repair on the upper right verso corner, with a corresponding area of craquelures and inpainting on the recto; an area of separating paint each along the upper right and left edges of the frame rabbet; one small paint loss under the center right of the frame rabbet; instances of hairline craquelures scattered throughout, with most prominent area being in the lower half of the woman's gown. Under UV light: the aforementioned area of inpainting in the area of the patch repair fluoresces; additional extensive areas of inpainting throughout, with a large area directly above the woman's head and around her right arm, as well as in the background between the two figures; pinpoint dots of inpainting within the figures' faces, but not a distracting amount.
