[Science, Medicine & Mathematics] Lucini, Paulo. Opticae iuxta Newtonianas leges a Paullo Lucinio Mediolanensi Latinis versibus expositae
Parma: Giambattista Bodoni, 1793. First edition. 8vo. (Light spotting.) Contemporary mottled calf-backed patterned boards, spine in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, morocco lettering-piece gilt in second, uncut.
In this work, Lucini provides four works on Sir Isaac's Newton's optics but what is of special importance is the printing method used by the famed Italian printer Giambattista Bodoni (1740-1813). Bodoni is best known for his design of a typeface now known as Bodoni. He attracted many admirers and imitators and even corresponded with Benjamin Franklin who sought information on typography and printing.
