[Literature] Stegner, Wallace. Angle of Repose
Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1971. First edition, inscribed by Stegner, "To Emil Reinhardt, Cordially..." 8vo. Original light green cloth gilt; publisher's dust jacket, very light spotting, minor creasing to extremities.
Angle of Repose was based on the personal letters of Mary Hallock Foote; this created friction between Stegner and Foote's descendants later, as they felt he had not done enough to disguise her identity. The book went on to win the 1972 Pulitzer Prize and in 1998 was listed #82 by Modern Library on their list of 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.
