The Laws and Acts of Parliament... was published during a tumultuous time in Scottish history, and as such the laws enacted by Parliament showed strong support for the divine right of kings.
The present work includes numerous passages on witchcraft and regulates the play of popular sports, particularly golf - one of the earliest mentions of the sport ever made in print.
