Three-quarter blue or tan levant over marbled paper-covered boards, stamped in gilt, by MacDonald, dampstaining to Bacon volume, some uneven fading across set; top edges gilt, other edges trimmed or untrimmed; marbled endpapers; book-plate on front paste-down of Bacon and Emerson volumes, hand-colored circular portrait of Emerson mounted on front blank of first volume of Emerson; scattered light soiling and dampstaining.
