probably refinished, but retaining nice even surface throughout; lid with age crack and with evidence of some faint water rings, the hinges re-set to back of case, with wood patches surrounding them, the interior of case with evidence of former divider, with shimmed notch, ghost mark with former holes, and patched area along back top edge of case, the lock replaced, with patched wood area around it, and lock slot to interior of lid missing; front of case and front legs with some minor water spotting / wear, some splits, including to front left-facing stile, back right-facing stile (with fill), and front right-facing stile (along side), a chipped wood piece to back left-facing and front right-facing stiles- the pieces intact, the top molding to bottom section likely re-nailed- with later nail evident along right-facing stile- likely contributed to crack and chipped piece; drawer glides easily and appears to retain original brasses; back edges of upper section retaining old traces of green paint; with minor occasional repairs to veneer, but not overt; solid and sturdy overall, the back left-facing leg slightly loose from back frame at tenoned joint
