the body worked with chased and repousse grape leafe, vine and cluster motifs on a stippled ground, some of the grape-cluster motifs with engraved script names, the foot with the presentation inscription 'In Segno di Prefetta Stima/ Un' Allieva Sua/ Al Celebre Rubini/ 1836'.
hallmarked for Sterling on side of body

Height 7 inches.

Property of a California Collector

NOTE:

The inscription translates to "In token of perfect esteem, students of his to the famous Rubini 1836". This cup was almost certainly presented to the famous tenor Giovanni Battista Rubini (1795-1854) from his students.
