The gouache is in overall fair to good condition. The paper is toned and there is some light, time and mat staining. There is an approx. 5 in. tear in the paper at the top center and a few other small tears and folds in the paper at the extreme top and right edges. There is a hard crease at the bottom right corner and some other soft handling creases, for instance at the center left and top right in the green area. There is also a pinpoint of loss in the mother's shoulder. Two light pencil marks or scratches are evident at the top center, the longer is approx. 2 1/2 in. long. No evidence of restoration as seen under UV light. Additional images available upon request.
