overall relatively sturdy and solid given the age--the seats are stable and functional, exhibiting signs of having been professionally tightened and reinforced, including reattached and/or replaced corner glue blocks and with pegged or reinforced joints; exhibiting expected signs of wear commensurate with age, including some occasional scattered old insect holes, which do not detract from structural integrity, some occasional knicks or scratches, and with some occasional surface hazing consistent with water; chair 1: with some repaired breaks or losses to crestrail, including a few replaced / patched wood elements, center splat is later carved oak replacement, bottom rail below center splat with a patched piece to backside and old split along left-facing side, also is reinforced to right-facing stile via peg; chair 2: repaired breaks to crestrail, lower rail beneath center splat, and to center splat, with some associated replaced or patched wood elements, bottom rail pegged to stiles for reinforcement, back right-facing leg slightly warped from age, front stretcher with some fill along right-facing side; chair 3: possibly with replaced splat and crestrail and bottom rail, although well-done, front stretcher and attachments to front legs with some repaired breaks, including to left-facing side, and with some partially detached or fragile joints at split / break, the front legs both with patched areas over former breaks; chair 4: with repaired breaks to crestrail, bottom of center splat, and to lower rail below splat, with some associated replaced / patched wood elements, the front stretcher and attachments to front legs with some repaired breaks, the front legs both with patched areas over former breaks, left-facing front leg with small split to upper back edge near seat frame, center stretcher has been re-pegged to side stretchers; all the seats have been more recently upholstered in striped damask fabric, which exhibits some occasional dark stains and fading
