The trunk presents very well and has a rich patina commensurate with age and use. All of the hardware is stamped with Louis Vuitton maker's marks. The top has a dark patina on the left side. There are a few scattered losses to the canvas throughout the trunk. There are abrasions to the lower edge on the front and sides. The hardware has minor tarnish and corrosion expected for age and use, and there is metal polish residue at the corners. The metal mount at the proper right corner has a dent. The leather strap at the center is missing. There is a crease along the back where the top of the trunk opens.
The interior is in good condition overall but does retain a smell of mothballs. There are four nailheads missing from the interior of the lid. The fabric handle on the proper left side of the second compartment is broken.
