Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust, with a heavier concentration on the verso; canvas is not lined; localized areas of craquelures scattered throughout; two small paint losses in the upper right corner and one small paint loss in the upper center; instances of pinpoint faint white stains scattered throughout the background; small white paint droplets in the center right, as well as in the lower left corner, and one in the upper left corner; several vertical scratches to the paint layer in the woman's left hand and lap; uneven varnish application visible under raking light, particularly around the woman's head. Under UV light: a vertical line of inpainting through the center of the woman's nose, as well a line of inpainting along the right side of the nose and the right temple; additional small spots of inpainting around her right eye, cheek, and eyebrow, and in scattered areas of her hair; small spots of inpainting scattered throughout the surface, as well as larger areas in the woman's skirt; inpainting within the lower left and upper right corners to address craquelures; a vertical liquid stain fluoresces along the right corner edge, but does not appear to be inpainting; inscribed later signature fluoresces.
