with nice rich dark surface throughout, retaining some historic surface with nice patina, with some light wear and some concentrated subtle cracquelure, particularly to top (indicating later varnish); the top with some age cracks, including one along left-facing edge and a diagonal one along back right-facing corner (with fill present), the hinge at this corner appears to have been secured with some reinforced or mended cracks or breaks around hinge, the top with water ring at roughly center, and some old darkened scuffs or scrapes commensurate with age and use; most knee returns have been replaced and / or repaired, the back left-facing knee return slightly loose at former break; the drawer with some patches along upper edge of drawer face, bearing period brasses, but they are not the original brasses, with evidence of single holes from former brasses, and with filled holes from former escutcheon, and also showing evidence of former bail pull to center (with plugged holes); back left-facing corner of bottom board with split; the top of the card table also with old softened chip or loss to left-facing front corner of top
