Very Good to Fine. Wool shows some minor fading and slight scuffing along the high edges and points of contact as well as some areas of minor wear that reveal the underlying weave of the fabric. The largest and most obvious area of wear is to the left of the number "3" above the cannon barrel, where a roughly .6" by .25" area of fabric is mostly worn through and a small hole is present. Stitching remains strong and tight in most locations and the sweat band and chin strap show only some minor wear and light crazing, as does the brim. Corps bade with some fading, primarily on the edges. Cap shows good age and light use, suggesting it was acquired very late in the war and saw limited field service. This would be expected as the regiment did not join the 6th Corps until January of 1865 and was mustered out 5 months later. Kepi passes the black light test with no fluorescence noted.
