**Japanese Type 14 Nambu Pistol with Matching Magazine

World War II

8x22mm Nambu. 4.61" barrel length. SN: 13895. Blued metal finish with straw colored small parts mounting horizontally serrated wood grips, and featuring the large triggerguard and rough wartime finish indicative of later manufacture. Short-recoil operated striker action autoloading pistol fed by detachable single stack magazines. Right frame struck with the production date marking 18.3, indicating it was completed in March, 1943. To the left of the date is the standard mark Sho for Showa, along with a correct weak Na mark below the code. Upper frame displays the Kokobunji manufacturer marking along with a First series mark before the serial number. Standard type and safety marks to left frame. Sights consist of a standard fixed rear notch and front blade. Item shows matching serial numbers where visible on all parts, and non numbered firing pin and firing pin spring guide. The serial number is written to the interior of each grip panel in pencil. Magazine also features a matching serial number. It is estimated that 20,300 of the 277,000 Type 14 pistols produced were of the Kokobunji First Series, or 7.3% of total production, making this an unusually high condition version of a scarce pistol. {C&R}

Very Good. Bore is frosty with some scattered pits but primarily bright with strong rifling throughout. Item shows some light cycling wear to internals but maintains strong straw colors on small parts. Some scattered brown flecks to frame and slide. Grips show light handling wear with some dents and stains. Upper edge of left grip panel has been worn down, leaving it secured primarily by screw.
