With new topaz discoveries in Brazil during the 18th Century, the Europeans popularized the gem in jewelry of the 19th Century. most sought after were the rare pink topaz and what is termed 'Imperial' topaz, which has a golden sherry color with pink undertones as in this ring.
Overall Condition: Acid test indicates metal is silver-topped low karat gold. Abrasions to topaz on the facet junctions.
Diamond Characteristics (graded insofar as mounting permits)
Color: H-I-J.
Clarity: SI-I.
