"Taken in the mass, [Modern Painters, Seven Lamps of Architecture, and Stones of Venice] contain the most valuable contributions to art-literature the language can show... they contain worlds of thought, imagination, and knowledge such as no other art-writer can reduce... It is impossible but that Art should be the better for them" (Allibone, 1895). In the Preface to Modern Painters, it is stated that this edition contains extra plates not found in the 1843 first edition. A TALL AND BRIGHT SET.
