Contemporary mottled calf, red morocco lettering-piece gilt, smooth spine gilt (joints splitting, vertical split to spine, spine ends chipping, some overall light wear). FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST GAZETTEER OF THE UNITED STATES. Scott drew and engraved the maps, which depict the United States, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, New Jersey, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, the Northwest and Southwest Territories, Vermont, and Virginia.
