Reisfield (inscription from Ginsberg); purchased from the estate by the present owner.A scarce copy of Ginsberg's second work, with his mimeographed signature below the introduction, one of about 53 copies mimeographed by Ginsberg on a ship off the coast of Alaska. LATER INSCRIPTION FROM GINSBERG below the mimeographed signature to Donald Reisfield: "This copy circa 1986 belongs to Donald R. Reisfield Allen Ginsberg Rutgers March 16 AH" (Ginsberg's characteristic tag). Martha Rexroth had previously produced a mimeographed edition of Howl in 1955 for her husband Kenneth Rexroth's poetry class at San Francisco State College. RARE: according to American Book Prices Current, only three copies of this work have sold at auction in the last 40 years; of the 53 copies produced, 33 are now in institutions.
