Label to verso of item 4 inscribed Anne Heathcote/ Wife of Sir John Edensor Heathcote Knt./ daughter of Sir Nigel Gresley, 6th Bart./ Infant in picture said to have been/ accidentally poisoned by nurse. Canvas in overall decent, relined condition. Craquelure through out but without holes or losses. Dirty. Examination under UV light causes some areas (mostly to the background and to the child's bonnet) to fluoresce suggesting inpainting. Additional images available upon request.
