Declining an invitation to lunch with the officers while attending a review of the 3rd Battalion at Windsor citing a prior engagement: "I have just learned that the King wishes me to attend a meeting on the afternoon which means that I shall be unable to stay to lunch at Windsor I'm afraid I must be back in London for lunch.."
